ABOUT MAMAS UNIDAS LR
Mamas Unidas LR is a 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to helping primarily the Hispanic community learn about higher education in the United States. The links provided are our bylaws and Articles of Incorporation.
Our mission is to empower families by disseminating vital information about available resources and guiding them through the necessary steps to help their children achieve their educational aspirations, thereby paving the way for a brighter future free from cultural, economic, or socioeconomic barriers.
Our vision is a future where young individuals are empowered to freely pursue higher education, unencumbered by cultural, economic, or socioeconomic barriers.
OUR STORY
In 2017, seven friends who were all mothers, facing the same challenge of helping their children through the college journey, founded Mamas Unidas LR. Lacking familiarity with the Higher Education system, they had questions about financial aid, required documents, application deadlines, and college preparation.
Recognizing that many parents in their community shared these concerns, they officially established Mamas Unidas LR on February 14, 2018, with a sincere commitment to providing assistance for students' success. Their initiatives include offering free workshops in Spanish for Hispanic parents, providing one-on-one consultations, conducting ACT workshops, and organizing summer programs.
All members of Mamas Unidas volunteer their time to be the support they wished they had during the often stressful college application process.
